1/48 Bird Cage Corsair F4U1/2 Feature

This is a Plastic 1/48 Scale Chance-Vought F4U-1/2 Corsair Airplane
from Tamiya.
The Corsair was primarily used as an offensive fighter and ground attack
aircraft. Initial versions had poor handling on aircraft carriers and so they
served with the Marines off land-based airstrips. Pratt & Whitney R2800 engine
required the classic inverted gull wing design for acceptable propeller
clearance. Early versions were called "Birdcage Corsairs" due to the heavily
framed canopy.
FEATURES: First Flight 1940; later versions served into the 1960's.
Highly detailed 1/48th scale plastic kit for static display.
Markings included for 1 Navy and 2 Marine aircraft.
Approximately 100 parts in light grey and clear with fine recessed
panel lines.
Optional wing radome parts for radar equipped F4U-2 nightfighter.
Cockpit is a work of art in plastic. Highlights: seat, rudder pedals
with foot troughs, detailed side consoles, control stick with
linkages, beautifully detailed instrument panel/front bulkhead.
Separate flaps designed to be attached in the dropped configuration.
Wing outer panels are separate and parts are included to allow the
wings to be modeled folded or extended.
Wheel wells have ribs and stringers and landing gear is fully
detailed.
Detailed PW R-2800 engine with parts for open and closed cowl flaps.
Single engine, carrier based, single seat fighter aircraft.
